Re: Music in Las Vegas, NV
I am in Las Vegas about once a month on business...usually Monday-Thursday.
There was a bunch of live music in lounges when I took this job about 5 years ago. It was fun to meet some of the players!
Since then, live music seems to have gone away in lounges...and I am bummed out...although I get to bed early like I should. All the live stuff starts too late for me now...10:00pm or later.
I saw Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani at the House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay on a Tuesday night about 4 years ago...I thought that would be a regular occurrence to see a show like that...hasn't been one since...and I am not there on the weekends.
Your mileage will vary on the weekends.

Re: Music in Las Vegas, NV
There was a great band (IMO) that used to play after-hours in various casinos called, The Lon Bronson All-Star Band. The band, high caliber musicians often from other show bands, covered everything from the Beatles to Tower Of Power (TOP members would make a point of attending after their own shows). I understand they still do their thing every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at the Green Valley Ranch Hotel ..free admission, though I think it's in Henderson (very close by).
