Can anyone(including the man himself) tell me what's happening at about 4:00?

Just looks & sounds to me that he displaces the beat a 16th note back for a bar until he hits that accent on the 'ah' of 4 then goes back to playing on the beat.
Love this clip. Great performance. Amazing drum sound as well!
