You've got skills boy. I'm guessing you've played in some sort of drum corps thing in the past.

I hope to have some photos of me shaving from 2 weeks ago.
Also, maybe a few pics of what I ate for dinner last night...

Hang tight.

DSOP, I'm just a hobbyist. Still a huge drum corps fan, though. Did you do corps?

And thank you, Kurtis. I never was any good at singles, so I started practicing them with several layers of towel on my pad and with the butt ends of the stick. It made a huge difference. If you do some endurance drills that way for just a few minutes, and then remove the towel and flip the sticks back over, you can see results on the spot. Not that playing fast single strokes is important; it's just more of a fun thing.

No, there was no big drum corps scene where I grew up, so the opportunities were limited.

DSOP, same here. I'm from Oregon, and the closest championship-caliber corps are in California.

Rafael, thank you.

How long do you think it would take someone to develop your finger control to play notes at the speed in which you do? Say, if you practiced everyday about a 1/2 hr or so?

Nice rpc! Definitely have the rudimental/corps influence going. EDIT: Just saw your post on RD!

Are you going to try for the Double Grid Paradiddle challenge Rick put up?

As a suggestion you may want to look into laminate pads, they are far more articulate and don't have the over-rebound of the gum rubber.

Not very long.maybe a year, if that. Developing finger speed is fairly easy because the fingers love to move fast (small joints, small levers, small muscles, high percentage of fast-twitch muscle fiber).
They have developed some incredibly effective methods to increasing speed and endurance with muscle training. That is training methods that are applied to other-then-drums. Things like HIIT, Pyramids, etc
Google around, you'll find LOTS of articles.

Mike Mangini has that finger stuff down real tight. Can also check out the various WFD guys, as they primarily use only fingers.
