My new Audioengine A2s

Postby Morgenthaler » Thu Feb 17, 2011 3:04 am

WOW.

I just got my new laptop speakers, the Audioengine A2s.
I cannot believe how great they sound. Here is but a taste, filmed on
my iPhone 3GS. I can't recommend them enough:
(this is a test done in my living room because I am re-building my office these days)

Thanks loads for posting this! Now I can upgrade my Koss powered desk top speakers after all these years of usage with something that is supremely more musical and have a speaker system of audiophile proportions for my laptop!!! [Now to Ikea for a cool glass topped desk for the office!]
Interestingly enough, the company is near to me, in Wilmington, NC! Fortunately too, I will get a chance to see the complete line of products at the APOXNA audio show in ATL, April 14-17 !!!! I will be sure to check them out in more detail.

We think alike! Glad you appreciated the post. They really do rock, these speakers.
I bought a new white desktop and cleaned out my office; a spring cleaning-like manoeuvre.
Now I'm in total zen.

Coolness! I shall check those out when I finish the room we're building upstairs and get my stuff running. How do they respond on low and mid-low range? I just need something small that sounds nice and beautiful so i can work with little no EQ at all. And these look awesome.

They really pack an unbelievable punch for their size, but you won't be demo'ing Simon Phillips' Gong Drum on
them (I always test speakers by letting them loose on 'I Will Remember' and The intro to 'Better World')

These have their limit like any other set of speakers. Still, they do knock your socks off.
They are like the Noisy Cricket in Men in Black. They surprise you.

Oh, no...you are trying to get me to go BACK down the road of audiophiledom...everytime I see a listing...most of these I do have...I just got a copy of something featuring Sean Rickman on it...Steve Coleman's 64 paths cd. Well recorded, large upfront mix. I heard it on a pair of Loth X speakers and I was sold. (Buying the Loth's too, from my buddy) Oh, Audioengine sells a sub...if one is so inclined. Oh, when you pulled the Stereophile review out, I had to laugh! Yep, you are a 'phile'. A good thing that! Peace!

PS: What is the quality of your sound card in your laptop? I guess I could upgrade it...

:)
That guy from Stereophile is a good writer. But the A2s are quite revolutionary when it comes to their core purpose:
Totally rethinking and upgrading the pc/laptop/desktop-speaker sound experience.

I just have my basic Intel HD Audio sound card in my Mac, and I tell you, even when blasting songs from
my iPod (5th generation) the speakers deliver amazingly. Check them out when you can.
