Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
I got a pair of Virgil's new 5B signature sticks from Techra. (he also has a pair of 2B signature sticks with them)
Any other carbon fiber sticks I've ever played, have felt completely off. Forget Ahead sticks.
While the aesthetics are far from my taste, I was really surprised at how much they feel like wooden sticks.
These 5Bs, at least on a practice pad, play very close to how I remember the Vinnie Zildjian sticks.
They feel a tiny bit heavier than the diameter would've made me guess, but the balance is crazy good.
I still don't like that you can see where they're spliced/joined, but you can't feel it when you're playing.
I look forward to trying them on a drumkit, and particularly cymbals, soon.
