I''m not sure what folks expect in terms of jazz-guitar enthusiasm. That kind of playing can come from a place that is a mixture of emotion and concentration, the balance of those fluctuating from moment to moment depending on what's being played. I don't recall a lot of instances of jazz/fusion guitarist ( or bassists ) having stage presence as their forte. Suffice it to say a lot of our tunes are pretty challenging so that may be why it's not exactly Barnum and Bailey's up there. During solos facial expressions might be more indicative of emotion whereas during a tricky melody it's more concentration and reading. Either way both those guys play their asses off and I think we're all trying to keep up with each other in terms of leading/following/interacting. It's always a challenge and moreover, a pleasure playing with them.
