I don't understand why someone who says they are the original owner would remove the nouveau studs. I called Yamaha and sent some photos. Awaiting word from them. The scratches are sort of difficult to see in the pics but are glaring when viewed with the naked eye.

Haha I hear ya, I've ceased to try and understand all of the absurd things drummers do to their drums, heads, sticks, etc.. they seem to be the worst out of all musicians as far as truly ignorant instrument "modification".

All said and done however minor blemishes like that are pretty easy to have fixed, any high end car paint shop can do that for you no problem. Would never know they were there. Basically it sounds like they could be buffed out fairly easily be it you do it or have some pro's do it.

Yeah... I shouldn't have to. If someone tells me there are cosmetic issues with the drums, then I know what I'm in for and the burden is on me. If someone tells me the drums are in mint condition, save for two small scratches that don't penetrate the clearcoat, I take them at their word. I'm really considering a refund but am afraid it will be his word against mine.

Welcome to humanity?

Really you still got a great deal on a great set. All said and done we're all pretty lucky.

In the end, the effort to try and return them, pack them up, ship them, yadda yadda, you could just take the whole kit down to, here's your chance to make friends with.. you local high quality auto shop. They can buff them for you no problem. Might as well have em throw another clear coat on the kit too.

And for future reference, your new friends can pretty much fix and refinish any drum finish issues.
