Yeah I know Andy, but what I mean it's that in 87, I guess nobody heard about Virgil except maybe cats in Australia, don't you think so ?
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Rodge, I figured that's what you meant! I hadn't heard of Virgil back then. Actually, at that PASIC in '85, that was the first time I had heard of Vinnie...man, was I in for a surprise! Right before Vinnie, Cobham, Tony Williams, Joe Franco and Stewart Copeland did their drum clinics. That was a great weekend!!!

31 years old playing this stuff. simply amazing. love the first clip. i could listen to him just groove and metric modulate for days. the ending of the song on clip two is nuts. those huge fills. god like. great recording. lots of punch. he really hits the drums and makes every note count.

seriously, I can't think of one guy who even comes close to this level of skill and this piece is 20+ yrs old. the amount of ideas he has is amazing.

WTF!!!...."This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Vinnie Colaiuta". This is getting boring.
And this time I didn't download the clips...DAMN.

Oh, you didn't get the memo?

Vinnie is actually going to be using those clips in an upcoming recording, and hence the copyright infringement stuff.

Vinnie has just called me. Between tears, he hardly could explain it to me...

I was right, and I would be embarrassed too:

The reason for removing the clips from Youtube is that at the ending in the 2º video (bar 167, beat 3, snare line) he did read wrong the chart, playing a forte note when a ghost note was written.

I understand now.

(^^^ Joke, just in case...)

That's funny :D

Perhaps Vinnie's irritation originated in insecurity and an obsession about controlling his image, but I think now he is just being an ideologue.
