"So where do you stand on rape, murder and incest ?"
The harsher the crime the lesser the gray area?

Besides who the heck are we to judge ? Sometimes you have to decide wether to stand by your convictions even if they cost you personally and professionally.

So, where do you stand on Rosa Parks? Should she just have given up her seat to the white man,
as she was told? Society evolves and laws evolve with it. Nothing is black or white (no pun intended).

@Steve ... good point !

@Morgenthaler I am not standing in any particular position, I just didn't agree with the logic /Ref Josiah's last post.

Watched the video again and seems like a big strong love slap. Pretty unbearable. But I don't want to judge his behaviour though ...

I agree to the point where I wouldn't pull that off myself. When someone (Vinnie) so obviously want you to stop
filming - I'd stop! It's just his agenda with not wanting anything out there that seems... dated.

I love the story of Mozart attending a holy concert in a church or monastery at a very very young age. Something
like 4 or 5 years old. The music was secret in the sense that no one was allowed to look at the music in writing
(the sheet music) but Mozart learned every part by ear (after hearing it one time) and went home and transcribed it.
It was totally illegal, but he did it because he could. And no one lost any money by him doing so.

I guess my experience is different in the sense that Vinnie once allowed me to hang with him during his warm up and take a tonne of photos and he didn't know me. That's all I know. Lots of people have filmed him as well, judging by all those different videos on youtube. I think this guy was just too in your face and right in front of the meant to be star Sting.
Like the Mozart story just goes to show where there's a will ....

The key thing is to be discrete. Everyone with a fucking cell phone thinks he has the right to shoot whatever the fuck he wants 'cause he paid $400 for a piece of electronics. Just more of this ubiquitous sense of entitlement.

"I can do whatever the fuck I want, whenever I want to do it. Fuck everyone else and their concerns."

The failure comes in equating the "law" with reality. They are very different realms. Law is an abstract and arbitrarily enforced realm that has incredible amounts of contradictions with in it. Reality is humans will do what humans want to do. It's THAT simple.

Reality is full of contradiction, what's your point? The Social Contract is not all that abstract.

Simple.

You are a famous musician, playing a huge show, people are going to take photo's, video, whatever. Deal with it. Or stop playing publicly.

The public taking your picture as a famous person is not going to change, in fact it's only going to become more widespread. Complaining about what you can not change is pretty stupid isn't it?

"I agree to the point where I wouldn't pull that off myself. When someone (Vinnie) so obviously want you to stop

Exactly. Particularly when you take into mind his seemingly arbitrariness of letting some people video and others not. See 'groober's example.
