I think if Vinnie had a kid who was a gifted drummer we all would know, so probably not.

I don't really think simply knowing if someone has a family is the same as prying into their family life. How they deal with that is actually a question that pops up at clinics and workshops a lot.

Yeah, tbh, I think some people here take things way too seriously. Someone asked if our favourite drummer has a wife or kids. Well holy shit, hold the front fucking page! :D

Yeah. It shouldn't be a big deal. At least not here.

It's all about the intention.

There are different types of people.

As someone who studied music at uni with people that were about 10 years younger it's amazing how much shit people can talk about eachother and other people to try and fit into certain cliques. Some grow past it some don't. Some of the leaders I've described in my former jobs are examples of people who clearly have not. Just because of my age and background I quite often get treated a bit weird by people, too. They seem to think they have to exaggerate, be cool, or something. I'm just a local hero, so I can understand it being a it taxing for someone in Vnnie's position. It's already taxing for me in my small world. You want to be a nice friendly person, and in my case I really just want to share musical knowledge. Then you're surrounded by all this sort of ego based bullshit that you don't want to deal with.

I remember a lot of reactions to Vinnie's 2007 MD interview where he started talking about these things. I didn't really react much, because I could relate.

Bitchin' player and seems like a cool guy. That's all.

Aren't we just drummers here? Vinnie is a drummer, too. Someone with more skills and experience than most.

I'm sure many people see something different, but I also think that then it's probably a good idea to have that conversation in front of a mirror first. A projection is just that, a projection.

People like this are real.

In fact, there was a movie about this phenomenon.

It sure is real. That's probably why when he used the term in the interview I took notice. I've known guys who shared similar traits and I watched them befriend name guys. Whether they fit this 'Vampire' moniker ... I don't think so, but two traits they definitely shared were heightened curiosity for personal information and being manipulative.

As I wrote in this thread right off the bat, my question wasn't directed at anyone in the thread. I don't see anything wrong with asking if someone has family either, but on the flip, if I know how private a player is I'm not going to ask questions that stray beyond drumming. So when someone asked if VC was a "loner" it set me off on that tangent.

Besides, the types of questions to which I was referring don't usually arise here, so that's why I thought I'd ask the question here. In fact, about the only time I recall that happening was when a member implied in a topic drummer thread that the guy was strung out. I remember that being shutdown fast.

I'm not interested nor do I think well of personal 2nd hand information being publicly bandied, whether I listen to someone's music or not. I know a few people that are the same way, but more who do take an interest in knowing personal information. So the question was sincere in that I really don't know the reason for wanting to know. But I didn't want to indict people. Evidently, I did write it that way, and so I apologize if anyone took it that way.

No need to apologise, OPG! Valid points from you indeed, plus I was just being a bit facetious :)

For anyone who's gone a bit into the meta world then learning about control types and energy vamps is a pretty standard fair.

For someone like me who at that point due to pain and no sleep had really no choice, but to live in a comlete right brain upper chakra world with no sacral defense at all you certainly get to experience what these energies are. It's not completely balanced, but you really are just more attuned and sensitive, like most other animals are. ONe is usually already disposed, but in regards to general integrity there is a big discrepancy and how we communicate today fuels that a lot.

Many musicians are on a spiritual journey, music, aside from the worst of money gigs, represent a spiritual journey, so if we wanna go past, sticks, heads and theoretical subdivisions, it is relevant. I do generally practice restraint, though. It is too far out for most people I meet.

When there are musicians you relate to getting into talking about such things, offcourse it's interesting and it represents their approach to their art as much as anything. Some would deem this religious talk, which it offcourse isn't, not at all. More like ear training for the soul, really.

Music, sound, energy, communication on different levels...

You are able to put things into words, you see a connection, you gain perspective, a concept is possible and then there is growth. Applies to anything. Certainly to why some musicians seem to operate on different levels. In my case, definetly has a lot to do with the results I see with my students. Putting the ego aside and be open to what actually works.
