Yeah, I've seen him with the China on the right, or not at all, several times.

Re: VINNIE - Vintage videos
Ah right, I stand corrected! (Sorry Rodge...)
That's interesting then - perhaps we really are seeing actual takes being recorded, it's just that they overdubbed the album versions afterwards? That would be nice.
Incidentally the complete opposite of the sanitised Sting vid is this classic one about recording a Joe Satriani album - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYmI_Wvsf70 - it starts with Manu (Katche) just not quite clicking with what Joe wants from the tune Luminous Flesh Giants. He eventually ends up using a take by another drummer. I love that tune to play along to.

Gets more interesting around the 4:00 minute mark, and a bit of flailing at the 7:30 mark:
Re: VINNIE - Vintage videos...OK or not vintage.
Gotta love how Sting looks back to Vinnie after his fill at 1:30 and how Vinnie reacts. Classic!
Re: VINNIE - Vintage videos...OK or not vintage.
Sting : "Hey, I'm singing !!!"
Vince : "Oops, sorry...".gif)
PS : damn violin...

Rodge wrote:Yeah I know what you mean about that video, I was disapointed about that when I did buy the VHS tape back then, specialy when the Sting's video you did buy before was "Soul Cages Lives" !!!
I saw Vinnie 3 times with the AWESOME Patitucci Band, and each time Vinnie's china was on his right side, and the spash was on the left side with another one in the middle between the crash and the ride.
It's probably been on the left side the last 15 years or so, but not always, and proven by recent changes, and various splash placements nothing is ever set in stone.

Jeff gives a very candid interview about Ronnie Scott,The Club and the Band's performance.

This is a repost.
Wow. Imagine if Sting reacted like Vinnie with every video/phone pointing at him.
Funny video.

Love that video. Making all those goofy faces while playing some amazing shit. Love all of his phrasings and ideas. Does sting say "vinnie stop doing that" at the very end? Would love to see the entire video. Kinda sucks that the video has gone viral in the drum community. Doesn't make vinnie look good but his playing makes up for it.

I think he said "Vinnie's stalker".
