Steve Holmes vids
Re: Steve Holmes vids
Steve is freaking amazing.... Any thought or phrase that comes to mind is immediately articulated by his hands and feet with dynamic perfection. Derek and Sammy J are no slouches either! Those three can make you want to put away the sticks for good!

Common statement for sure, but I never understood it.
Shouldn't you be inspired?

There is nothing to understand.... I was making a point, not trying to start a conversation about quitting because of someone’s talents. Of course these guys inspire! Ok, I feel stupid for responding to this.

Not meant as a comment for you personally as much as to something I always heard back in school every day where people were too serious about it, as in comparing themselves to others in not the healthiest way.
If it helps, my mind is hardly linear these days with going over the last decade and building my case.

Back to Steve's discharge...Steve your ergonomics are changing in the way
you hit your cymbals...I don't have the vocabulary to describe this...I have
noted this over past several videos...can you share the influence of this?
Anyone else help me here? I rarely see rock drummers do this...it is always
jazz-fusion drummers...there are some rock guys at the end of a song that
will reach over their crash and hit the front of the cymbal. This make any sense?

Oh, when I reach up and hit the far side with the left hand? It's just an exclamatory presentation of a phrase I think. Also it feels good to stretch the left arm all the way out like that some times.

Inspiring beyond words....musical, technique, tuning, cymbals, dynamics...the gambit. The band! Badass!
