Nice! Oh man that record was a game changer when it came out. You should check out "Outta Love Again" from their next record, Van Halen II. I swear it sounds like something Tony Williams would play, if he ever played in Van Halen.
Re: Quarantine Chatty!
Thanks Paul. In fact We are doing Outta Love Again also. And Yeah the sound is also a bit Tony on that one. We are also doing VH 1st album in its entirety so it will be fun.

I cannot help but to comment here...IF you are doing a VH gig, why not get
the AVH snare tone? There is enough videos out there on the HOW...it is a MUST
in my book. I'm the One if not for Eruption would have been the mind blower guitar tune
off this LP. There is an isolated guitar video of this...STUNNING...not only for the
magical tone and leads, but Ed's rhythm playing and groove.
That said...NICE playing bro! You killed it!

That sounds like a really fun gig. Alex had his shit together on that first album. Live he was intense!
Went looking for some old VH. He really did raise the bar IMO. Musical and super powerful. I don't know many drummers that were approaching the drums this way in 78. Neil maybe.

Good luck!

Re: Quarantine Chatty!
VH was a HUGE part of my high school experience. Growing up in
So Cal we all went to the Starwood and Gazari's to see the latest
bands with a young kid toting the last name of Rhoads!
I'm sure every high school had that one kid who was the THE hot
drummer...it was my buddy Brian and he was OBSESSED with
AVH....right down to the exact kit and fire extinguishers
mounted.
That Dallas gig shows AVHs's gorgeous wrist snap...he hits
w/such power and consistency. Much of his earlier fills
reminded me of a big band drummer...sure part of his
pops influence.
THIS is what I remember about early AVH at the end of songs...
saw him do this at the LA Coliseum and Dave told him to stop...
Al was PISSED...never forget that moment.
(sorry Sturla...you start a VH post and it takes off...lol)

That should be a lot of fun! I love those 70s/80s Tamas too.

Tommy's doing another round.
Not like he's selling anything to me. I got these things when they came out about 11 years ago and I've been using them in my own way when teaching since then.

I got blocked by him so I can't. It's a shame.
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.
