A friend of mine run this Web-Tv Drum Channel called Mr. Online Drums TV: lessons, gear, interviews...Incredible effort in that.
They interviewed Dave on the last September edition.
I would have wished different questions for Dave (they are the same over and over again in almost every interview...)
It´s funny that Dave doesn't remember if he´s ever been in Murcia (He thinks that the last time was with Chick ...)
Well, he´s been in the same auditorium 3 times in the last years (Two with his band and one with Metro) and many times in the region with all his bands.
Crazy schedule and travels...
Dave is on minute 1:04:40

Re: DAVE WECKL - The thread about Dave
Thanks Juan... Dave is a class act.
Having to answer the same questions over and over again must be a drag and Dave handles it with class and grace... What about asking about his favorite pizza place? Recent movies that he enjoyed? Books? Training programas? About his drumming shoes (!)? About how having a recording studio at home changed his playing? pfff, there´s tons of questions much more interesting than the old some ones over and over again...

Melvin and Dave playing some smooth jazz with the GRP vets. Smiles all around on stage but this is another example where I think Dave is a bit busy to be honest and no none is gonna call him out on it. Great feel, just busy.

Re: DAVE WECKL - The thread about Dave
More of a Dave story here. Tonight I went to see the Northridge University jazz "A" band
at the new facility on campus here in So Cal. Pete Christlieb was one of the guests...
former Tonight Show sax player and known for his Deacon Blues solo off Aja.
The drum sound was very good and the snare had that huge room boxy pop I like.
But I really did note how with the jazz band, the toms sounded muted until the
drummer got a free open vamp and then the toms sounded amazing. I kept thinking
how the college kid running the sound board held all this power over what we all
actually heard. There was a strong low end overall. I really dug watching these
two drummers stay locked onto their charts and playing in a very controlled manner.
There was this youthful college energy in the room.
All to say I haven't been back on campus in a LONG time...so long that I set up for this
new band called The Chick Corea Electric Band with some guy named Dave Weckl.
I was thinking of where they had shows in this converted multi-purpose room from where I
saw tonight. I'm thinking is was 1985 when Chick said he forgot something at his house
and I had to run over and pick some gear up before the show. Driving with his roadie,
the guy says this band is really something...but the drummer, well, wait to you see him.
Dave NEVER broke a bead of sweat all night.
Around this time period less the Simmons

Anyone receive the behind the scenes bluray from the Weckl/Oliver project? There's some really good footage on there.
