All music is written, all artwork is done, now it's final stage of rehearsing and arranging before heading to the studio. I need to be careful cuz I am spending too much money and need to have the studio fees saved. In fact the other day I bought some ZIldjians from a Gergo student. When I went to pick em up Gergo was sitting on the rehearsal facilities lobby. He told me that the Zildjian 22 A custom ride was always his favorite ride, still to this day, and that he used it for like 20 years or something. The ride is really a beast of a ride, love it.

I actually took a lesson with Gergo on double pedal stuff, the guy can fly on the pedals effortlessly at insane speeds for as long as he wants. I could take more lessons with him, but I figure he's just at such far away level it's purposeless. He doesn't charge much for the lessons either.

Keep us posted on that project, Manu!

Any insights worth revealing about the lesson with Gerg?

A lesson with Gergo is more like one of those lessons where you just learn by being exposed to something awesome. He doesn't really have a method nor will he recommend any books or anything like that. He's sort of like Dennis, doesn't really read and is basically a natural talent (plus tons of work of course). It's useless for me to do lessons with him because he is simply in a different dimension than me. His student with whom I am developing a friendship with could actually teach me, the guy is really, really good, he has absorbed lots from Gergo and I think will get places.

I am just a mediocre drummer whose time has long passed. I think this album I will record will be the end of my musical journey. i don't regret it one bit though, I gave my best given the circumstances and enjoyed every minute.

I missed this last time around.

There's a lot to be said for giving it your best with whatever outcome. I've never felt I gave it my best, even though I very much began that way, and especially when the going got tough. And it bugs the f***k out of me every day. So it actually means a lot to know that you did. I thought you should hear that from someone with the opposite experience.

And the journey's not really over, it is? It's just a different path now.

Manu hermano, keep in mind that it's not a competition, it's an art, it's about emotion, there is place for EVERYBODY as much as you do it with your heart, and I know that's it's waht you do.
Believe me, you can play with musicians who could enjoying way more playing with you than with Gergo or other great, it's not about drumming, it's about the feeling, the sensations, the friendship, and giving emotion to the crowd while having fun.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Rodge you nailed it. It is about the feelings and sensations. So true Rodge. And also the friends you play with. The trials and tribulations you go through together on your journey. You either have it or don't tho. If your a monster you will get noticed!

Gergo in a free jazz kind of thing with gary willis. Gergo is really responsive with the other musicians. Not the other way around. Makes me think in what kind of setting I really really would like him to see.

"can't Europeans play straight ahead Jazz"

It´s better that you write "can't Gergio play straight ahead Jazz"
So that you don´t piss of 733 million people who been doing diffrent kind of art forms many years before USA was born ;)
Among the 733 million people there are some pretty great musicians and some of them are drummers that can play great jazz and straight ahead...
And this is not straight ahead in the old school sense it´s in the"fusion" drumming style..
