Lot of favorites mentioned already, but I didn't see any Derek:
Always amazing performances from him.
And for some stylistic variation, I'll add this old Marc Bonilla clip, which also features great playing from Toss:
Great call by Matt Hughen on Eddie Hazel:
and I always dug this Hampton version as well:

Re: Favorite guitarists....
Obviously,I'm late getting to this thread...as usual. Better late than never. I love the guitar and likely would have aspired to be a guitarist had the drum bug not bitten me when it did.
Some of my favorite guitarists that I have been fortunate enough to play with are:
Adrian Belew
Dave Fiuczynski
Paul Gilbert
Jimi Hazel
Simon Yu - if you haven't heard of him then you should check him out
Marco Minnemann - Yep, my friend can really rip it on guitar too.
Here's some that I hope to play with. Yep -I'm putting it out to the universe! Why not?
John Mayer
Pat Methany
Mike Keneally
John Scofield
Allan Holdsworth
Naturally, Zappa and Hendrix have a place all their own. Then there is Warren Cuccarullo - there are just no words to describe his talent.

You are in 24-7 Spyz and Defunkt?
De DeFunkt ya! Thats quite a list of played withs.
Jimi Hazel seems like a great cat. Real music lover too. Also, Joe Bowie and Defunkt are very underrated IMHO. Love Ronnie Drayton's guitar as well. You get to play with Kim Clarke? She's so bad it hurts! Nice to make your acquaintance . . . now if we can just get Defunkt to come to LA!

Re: Favorite guitarists....
Hey matthughen-
Thanks for your kind words. I've been extremely fortunate to play with so many exceptional talents in my career.
I just played a benefit show last night with 24/7 Spyz for Ronnie Drayton's son in NYC (Living Color played too) at Highline Ballroom. It was a phenomenal show! Actually, Ronnie Drayton should have been on my list too. But, I haven't played with him nearly enough. He's an incredible talent. Jimi is very underated. He IS Heavy Metal Soul personified! He's also a fantastic human being all the way around.
Yeah, Kim is a force to be reckoned with! She always makes me laugh. I also saw a lot of my cats from Defunkt (and its various incarnations over the years!) there last night, including Kim and Ronnie, so that was cool.
I would really love for Defunkt to play in LA too! I'm not sure when that will happen though. However, we're playing a few shows in Europe this year; February 18 - 24 with stops in France, Italy and Yugoslavia. Joe Bowie is , well, Joe Bowie - Amazing! He's been a major influence and mentor to me in my life - just a really dear friend. He always kicks my butt on the bandstand - ALWAYS! Ever since my first show playing with Defunkt back in 1997 in Washington, DC. I was sure that he was going to fire my a-- after we got off stage, but thankfully, he didn't and I have been playing with him ever since. It's been a major learning curve and so much fun over the years. He definitely keeps me grounded and humble because in this industry, it's so easy to lose your head.
Will you be at NAMM?

I am facebook friends with Jimmi Hazel and look what popped up on my newsfeed this morning. . . you! (i am pretty sure):

Mr. Drayton is a very underated guy IMHO. His playing with Defunkt and Edwin Birdsong are how I became aware of him. As far as NAMM I am trying to find a badge and make it in one afternoon but no luck yet. However, over the NAMM holiday there are a few good shows and I hope to catch 1 or 2. Cafe Cordial has Greg Bissonette on Sunday the 22 and David Garfield on the 19. Baked Potato has Virgil wednesday and Sunday (sunday with Hldsworth!), Bozzio on sat and Novak on Fri. Will you make any of these shows?

Hey matthugen-
Yep, guilty. That's me behind the Sonor kit!
I would love to make a few of those shows, especially Bozzio. But basically, it just depends on what my reps. from Sonor and Paiste have planned for each evening. So, we'll see what happens.
Hey Rodge-
No, we didn't play "Why" last night and actually, come to think of it, we have never played that tune since I joined the band in 2005. Incidentally, Joel Maitosa will be back drumming with them for the 24/7 Spyz reunion tour in February. I'm sure that it will be great!
I 'm not personally acquainted with Linley Marthe and we haven't played together in Defunkt, but he's a very talented bassist. I believe that he plays in Joe's other European based band called, Defunkt Soul nEU Generation.
