part II will be put online today at 11.00 AM (EST).

Not being a DT fan, but as a fan of good drumming I'm gonna watch it for sure. Yes, it's pure entertainment, a publicity stunt. But I think it is nice to see how the selection of a new drummer evolves. You don't see that quite often. How many times has VC been asked how he got into Zappa's band and told the story? Pity that there aren't any footages of that audition available.... and watching Zappa screaming "NEXT" .....

They seem to be looking for someone that´s not going to add their own take to the music.....I wouldn't write off Virgil or Thomas because they played their own stuff on the tunes. You could just tell them from the offset we want you to play the tunes like the original.

I liked Marco, Virgil and Thomas so far...think Virgil would do some awesome stuff when it came time to do some new songs. Gotta say though, they've got a tough choice picking between such great drummers, each brings something different to the table so it's just going to be down to preference.

part 2 very cool. virgil, marco and thomas were great. i guess it would be nice for virgil to get the gig. he would bring that extra umph to the bands music. can't go wrong with mike or marco. those two are fun to watch. guess that's why they are leaning towards those two cause most of these guys can play the crap out of their music.

I was thinking the same thing, but I almost wonder if Virg has TOO much chops for the band. Virg is like a 20-ounce sirloin for a band that makes a living feasting on a lot of hamburger.

LMAOL, love your analogy!

They are all heavy weights that IMO fit easily into DT, mainly because I wasn't too impressed with MP. I've seen them live where MP lost track and John had to count him in the tune again. Not much improvisation going on, more like reciting (hope you guys get what I mean) the tunes. Hearing Virgil molding riffs and being able to react on the parts gives me the idea that DT finally is looking for some (improvisational) space in their music without forgetting where they come from and loosing their hardcore fans. I think the band will benefit from Virigl and he would benefit from them and not putting his signature too much on DT on short term.

I loved Marco´s t-shirt. It says a lot about his personality. He did great, although the music of DT bores me to death.

Virgil is a monster. He too would be an awesome fit if they want DT to take some new directions (with Marco being the same case)

Derek... super nice guy but he´s not ready for the gig

Thomas... i don´t like the guy as a drummer

Mangini is the perfect fit if they want to carry on doing exactly what they´ve already been doing for the past 25 years
