ooooooo old vinnie playing the songs he recorded when he was 20 or so ...
the evolution is OBVIOUS but i can't describe how much i still hear the same guy anyway. it's truly vinnie playing where he is from(obvious too) . i truly love his playing there much more than any other cds he recorded , this is just incredible to have that level of improvising within a structure....
now , i'm not fan of the band ... :!: but still greaaaaat playing . tal is great too.
ooo and of course give vinnie any brand he will play them good !!!(like any good drummer)

Some new top-view from the gig with Zakir! I Love Vinnie but these cymbals are not my thing at all.

Those are great. Thanks, Steve. I happen to think those cymbals sound luscious!

I also like the cymbals... did Vinnie relax his stance on being recorded live or are these part of a legit video shoot for the gig (he had to have OK'd a camera above him, right)? Either way, really great footage and of course burning playing from the Man. Also, what a band! Damn.

Thanks for the wonderful Vinnie footage! This is the first time I found the Paiste cymbals a great fit with Colaiuta. The ride bell is not loud and the bow not so washy. What an incredible communicator he is and what a great Tony Williams kinda vibe. I still love him on Yamaha drums with this more centered tone and higher pitch.

That's a really interesting read, thanks for sharing. It's good to see that Vinnie hasn't had to put his rate down. In so many interviews and podcasts you hear about guys lowering the daily rate and having to do stuff for mates rates!
