I got in too late the first time. Caught it this time. Well worth it. I can’t pretend to completely understand exactly what’s going on with that music—the form is sometimes difficult to discern/follow—but man the energy and creativity behind the performance is something to behold. Playing in control and staying inside the song with that kind of raw expression is on a whole other plane. It’s very inspiring to watch. Will be tuning in for the next.

This was nice and it works.

The stuff with Damien feels a bit overplayed, one dynamic type of thing.

My favourite tune. :D

Been obsessed since it came out. The intro is anticipation and intensity at it's finest.

Pretty much the last album that gave me a kick.

Music as it should be. Groovy, improvised, dynamic, expressive, organic.

When Vinnie got back with Gretsch they had some old Jasper shells lying around, so he got a full shell pack all or most sizes of them. So, USA Customs, but old stock Jasper shells and no suspension. Seems he mostly still uses his common fusion sized 6-piece, but I've seen pitures of him using 12/13/16/18/24 in the studio and I guess he was using a 20" BD on the Visual Sound thing.

Snare is if course his new signature. I haven't tried it in person yet, but I guess with the 45 degree edges and so on it's an attempt to do something between the old hammered brass he was using a lot(my main drum as well) but with a bit of woodiness from his old sig. I wasn't too impressed with the drum sound when I saw him with Herbie this summer, but that snare sounds fab in the LiveMuse video.

I guess it's how it must be done, but I wish it was possible to watch or just listen to it offline.

He actually got all of those white Jasper shell drums way back before he left Gretsch for Ludwig.
