Why? Just curious...

There are not many artists where vinnie can go " all the way." As a zappa and vinnie fan it is cool to see how he approaches the songs now. Maybe he comes on stage again and plays some other Joe 's garage stuff.

Btw Ryan Brown does an excellent job....

Dunno really, I'm sure not many will agree with me but this is just my opinion. I just feel Vinnie did that stuff at the right time, with the original members and of course with the composer. Everything with Zappa was fresh, unique and magical and of course showed off Vinnie's remarkable talents.

Now he's doing it over 30 years later with a new generation, effectively a bunch of (albeit very talented) kids and in my mind it cheapens things. It's like Vinnie was the original and now he's doing a covers band of it.

Watching Zappa plays Zappa, one can obviously see how briilliantly they play the pieces, but there isn't the chaos, humour and madness of the original shows, it's like watching Berklee students just doing a nice clean job.

I suppose if they're performing new pieces of Zappa that he never performed, that's something.

Perhaps it's selling nostalgia, but I would love to see a performance of JG with Vinnie. He can still hack the material, and there is a band that can cover it. It could draw and I what could Vinnie do now?

GRP mood lately, that one was good too !!!
Composed by Corea, Patitucci on bass and my boy on drums, so classy.

I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Does anyone know if Vinnie is doing the newly added dates on the Herbie Hancock tour? Specifically Atlanta. It kinda determines whether or not I buy tickets.

Looks like he's on all the Herbie gigs. I'll be catching them next month.

For what it's worth, Vinnie told Ryan that he really misses playing that music.
