I am stunned no reaction to that new Vinnie vid at 0:53...especially here in HOD!
That is a Christmas present for us all!

Rob agrees with me...

Yeah. As far as I know though, they're the same sticks without the "heat treat."

The ols Zildjians were the best stick ever, though. Fee, great, sound great, durable and ridiculously easy to play.

Man Vinnie's playing on this Chaka show is so sick. So tasty, so deep and inspiring watching him control things and turn the knobs to support the music. Specifically when he's on the ride he's so often doubling BD hits with a light finessed crash at the same time, but it's not a CRASH, it's just a soft layer on top of the BD hit to accent it in a way. Totally changes the energy of the groove. No one does that stuff like he does.

Dude...you hear stuff I never think about which is cool!

Funny Steve...just watched a John Riley MD lecture/demonstration that
was pretty incredible in itself. Must have been shortly after this gig and
that video of the Chaka rehearsal that blew people away. Riley mentions
the added element to his four parts of being a musician is inspiration...
and his focus of new inspiration was a Vinnie lick similar to the one recently
posted from this rehearsal. I saved that rehearsal footage before Youtube
took it down.

Video clipped at Vinnie moment...

Not sure where Rob's 5 grouping idea comes in? To me it's just paradiddle+3+3+BD = 15 notes = 2 1/2 beat
