I know what you mean, but in the same time, Vinnie had always used his thumb, his other fingers, his arms, shoulders for controlling the drumstick, or/and doing strokes with.

Well, he does it kind a, AWESOME if you ask me. :-)

There is an interview where Steve who is a drummer wanted Josh Freese,
Steve Ferrone, and Vinnie...he really raved about wanting to work with
Vinnie. Steve does NOT sound like a 69yo cat...more like 40. Many of the tracks
were recorded years ago even tho the release is in Oct. VC on latest TOTO
and now ex-Journey man Perry. Josh really sounds good on No Erasin'
