2000 Don Vinchenzo. Any recording Don has played on is perfect. Context, Concept, musicality and execution.

Nice stuff, ALWAYS great to see my boy anyway.
PS : I can't help but each time I hear about Keith's bass drum sound, in my head it says "Gary Novak..."...
Like everybody forgot what he did with Chick and The EB II ? :o

So true. Was Gary playing an 18" bass drum on that record, or was it also a 20"?

I love it, but whenever I've tried to do that with my bass drum, it just seems to be too dominant of a sound.

Paul, I had the same reaction until I realized
that what the drummer hears from behind his
trap set and what the audience and / or recording
hears are 2 different things.
The drummer is hearing the max amount of sustain,
as Keith does and Gary do, but by the time the
BD sound is mixed with the room accoustics
and ensemble volume, it's avery musical mix, as you hear when you listen
to their recordings and especially when you hear
them live.
Listen to Ari from his Smalls' gigs in NYC. He plays
a wide open, ambassodor front/back BD and it sounds
great when he solos and it sounds great when the band
is mixed in....not overpowering or dominant.

Gummy bears. the fabric of time and space hasn't been the same since vinnie figured out the formula.

Seems like Vinnie sitting in with a piano trio

Pretty cramped space...much like the type of spaces I'm sure all of us have played in
