I hear Vinnie is allowed to 'play' on this date.

We've all read this story about a billion times...it's nice to actually hear Steve Vai tell it.

Vai wasn't in Zappa's band when they were working on Mo's Vacation. That story is actually Aurthur Barrow's story, and it occurred while on tour in Europe, not in California. Not sure why Vai has made it his own.
The chart Vinnie was reading at the time was for one of the horns; It wasn't a notated drum part.

Paul...thanks for setting it straight. I guess Vai doesn't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

True. I got the facts from Marc Atkinson, who spoke to Aurthur Barrow about it. Marc did a transcription and play-along of Mo and Herb's Vacation.

Vinnie and Chick (RIP), always a great chemistry.

Always loved that song, and Vinnie's sound is SO FAT !!!! :o
I'm also a big fan of Robben Ford.

Savage shit here, the moment Tavaglione blows, the vibe is really something else !!!

Julian --
That was the nicest thing I've heard in a long, long time. Pretty much a blueprint for how he plays musically, yet maintains his "Vinnie-ness"
Thanks for that...it made my day.

I hope Rodge doesn't get too upset that it's a Latin thing...or is it just when Weckl does it? :D (just kidding, Rodge :) )

Yeah nice Julian, I saw that one already, but with the sound of the drum natural, not through the mics.

Always loved that gig, I played so much of these licks back in the days, Vinnie ideas were endless, damn, great stuff !!!

PS : I LOVE when Dave plays latin with Camilo for exemple, not so much when him or/and Jay Oliver are the composers. :D
