Musicians' biographies?

I like to read musicians' biographies, prefering autobiographies.
Be it of jazz greats or decadent rockers, as long as it is a good/fun read.
Any recommendations?

Pfff, Miles autobiographie is awesome!
I just ate that book in a week or so... I still have some notes I took while reading (albums, musicians, quotes...)

Yeah, that one by Qunicy Troupe is really awesome.
Check out the one on Jaco Pastorius by Bill Milskowski, some deep and sad shit...
Qunicy Jones too, good stuff, I love to read some bio.
I would love that Branford Marsalis would do it too, Vinnie too of course, Marcus Miller, Wayne, Herbie...

"Dirt" with Motley Crue is absolutely hilarious - in a Spinal Tap kinda way.
I enjoyed Keith Richards one too.
Bruford's one is great as well.

I hear Herman Rarebell's (Scorpions) new book is supposed to be fairly good

Not necessarily a musician-autobiography, but I just finished reading Geoff Emericks Here, there and Everywhere -Recording the music of The Beatles. Fantastic.

Thelonious Monk: The Life and Times of an American Original by Robin D. G. Kelley
There are some annoying parts, but for the most part it is a great read.

"Full Moon" by Dougal Butler. Hilarious accounts of Keith Moon by his personal assistant (Dougal Butler) of ten years. It's a shame it's out of print, but it's worth tracking down on Ebay or Amazon. Every now and then some nutbag is selling a copy for 300 bucks, but hold out...you can find them pop up for 20 or 30 bucks. It's a book you'll read more than once.
Cheers,
Todd
