Apparently, he was unhappy was them. I don't know if he eventually choose something on that testing session or not, but one or some of those kits ended up at Hollywood Drumshop with a sign on it saying "Made for Vinnie Colaiuta!" As I understand it, he was none to pleased to have his name attached to drums he refused to play. He was quite unhappy with Hollywood Drum Shop and was also gone from Ludwig within a very short time.

Vinnie sounds unbelievable (again) in that video above! WOW.

Paul

There is guy in the UK who is proclaiming that Vinnie has forgone any kind of drum endorsement deal. As far as he's concerned he's saying that Vinnie is going to play what he wants when he wants. Knowing that you are reasonably close to the source, can you confirm or deny that this is the case?

Thanks

Back on Gretsch. At least, for that gig.

Fore that gig I imagine. I bet he just uses whatever he feels like at the time. Sounds refreshing actually.

Yeah- I dig that too. You have to make the right choices gear-wise for the gig and it's nice to have preferences. Maybe one night he likes the Gretsch better than another kit. Maybe one night he's fine with dealing with the Yamaha that's supplied for him.

Makes me wonder which brands or kind of drums he really doesn't lik: DW, Pearl, Tama, Premier,

I'll guess the drums he might like, are: brady's, yammies, gretsch, Sakae and Sonor for rare occasions . :)
