Virgil clinic live stream at 7PM EDT

Postby Morgenthaler » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:46 pm

Borderline spamming, sorry, I just didn't want anyone here (who want to se it) to miss it.

Virgil is doing a clinic at Long Island Drum Center and there will be a live stream of it on ustream.

It's at 7PM EST (= in a few hours)

Knowing ustream, it can be quite a un-even experience.
We just have to see how the connection is tonight.

Oh, my bad - that was what the modern drummer link said (http://www.moderndrummer.com/site/2012/ ... 2efRWLj61o)
(raises fist at the sky over inventors of daylight saving time)

Virgil just said 7 :)

Massively distorted but online here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/drum-test

EDIT: And out of sync, and cut off by commercials every 5 minutes :(

I can't believe this guy is over 50!

Definitely the exception for the hitting "into" over "drawing out of"
approach.

Still pretty cool...wish it streamed better for me...man's a beast.
Work ethic simply amazing.

Foot camera is syncing, but the other cameras are behind - odd. Nevertheless, he is absolutely ridiculous.
Morgenthaler, any reason why Virgil doesn't use the Demon Drive pedals?

I'll try asking him about that.
I think the stuff he was doing on a Premier P-277 was just as amazing,
tight and precise as the stuff he has been doing on Pearl pedals.
I suspect it's simply not that big of a deal to him.

I light of the horrible sound and out of sync issues that seem to occur on ustream,
have any of you tried stageit.com?

Here's a short clip from a few days ago with Haslip and Holdsworth, in a decent quality,
with some nice syncopations towards the end:

Yeah, Virg would sound good on any pedal. I was just curious. Just seems logical that a guy like him would be using Pearl's best gear. But he maybe he just prefers the feel of the Eliminators.

caught some of the clinic last night. to bad it was out of sync. watched some of the independence stuff. 5 over 4 over 3 over whatever. it's nice to have that in your skill set. reminded me of the days in efrain toro's open counselings. he would play 7 over 5 over 9 while soloing with the free limb and then switch limbs!
