Saw Eric Harland in January on the Friday of NAMM week. He was playing with saxophonist Ben Wendel, pianist Taylor Eigsti, and bassist Harish Raghavan at Blue Whale in LA. He played that house 4 piece ''Yamaha'' set they have there.

Yes, his dynamic range and articulation at all levels was incredible. Also, his understanding of song form and the parts he came up with was impressive.
I brought a friend to the show who didn't know much about Eric and he was blown away by his playing.

Bumping this thread... does anyone have any listening suggestions with him on drums? I prefer acoustic/traditional rhythm section instruments (piano, upright bass, wurly, organ...) playing anywhere from straight-ahead to somewhat out/contemporary. The farthest I'll get into "free" jazz would be something like Now He Sings, Now He Sobs. Thanks!
