He's very ill and may be gone soon. So sad. Such a cool guy and great musician.

It is sad. I've always liked his playing and his singing. And he combined them very well.

Hate this. Love Levon.
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

Levon is actually one of my biggest influences. I regularly play in a band where we do Ophelia, which I play and sing and Levon is one of those guys where it's just not the notes man...it's him. I have The Last Waltz on blu-ray and his kit is so dirty and funky. His cymbals have such a killer sound. He is one with his kit. Christ, the kit even looks like him!! He is so slinky and subtle. I mean his vocals fit so perfectly with the drumming, his phrasing, it's like he has another limb in his throat. The fills in The Weight. Wow. Such conviction. Even the few acting roles he has had, especially the gun weirdo in the Wahlberg flick Shooter. Such a deep charachter. I guess that word sums up Levon. Deep.

This is why he's one of my favorite musicians:

This is so sad. I recently read This Wheel's On Fire as it's on Mr DiCenso's reading list and was really inspired by his stories and how he came up (another one on the same list is BB King's Blues All Around Me, also highly reccomended... reading that has had the effect on me regarding the listening of blues music like a Magic Eye picture that were popular in the nineties... You change your view slightly and you're like "Whoa... I SEE now..."), the good times, the struggles... I'm not gonna let this be like Elvin, only getting into him after his passing... I'm off to get listening!
