Love Vinnie et al, but at the end of the day THIS is what it's all about. The solo at 6:15 is pure mastery of the instrument.

Small tool box, but fashioned every tool in the box on his own. Undeniably, uniquely Gadd.
Think I've said that a lot, but it's true.

Here are a couple of new Gadd videos. He's jamming in a little Club in NYC. Check out the solo at the end.

Gadd always brings a smile to my face. One of the most influential drummers in history for a reason (or two...or more...)!
Thanks for posting!

I didn't find a Steve Gadd thread like the VC etc, so posting this bit of awesomeness here.
This just cracks me up. Damn...I mean, damn. The whole album is like this...

Yeah, respect to Gadd, but give me Vinnie anyday, it's all I need.
To each his own...

This is a live solo at the Bottom Line in '81 with Tom Scott and Marcus Miller on bass. I think Gadd was in prime form here, just coming out of the 70s.
More recent Gadd with Pedro Martinez.
