Some potent fills in the Proto Cosmos vamp ;)

Nice video Jeppe, well done, thanks man.

PS : I still hear a great drummer, not a good musician...

Oh wow, right from the horses mouth!

That ride sounds great...of course, Sabian doesn't have a 21" Artisan Light ride in their catolog at the time I'm writing this...but I'm sure when your name is Virgil Donati, you can get these things..lol

I have the 22" Artisan Medium Ride and I love it.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. BTW I think Virgil sounds great in this setting. It's a great fit. He is playing with a little more finesse to my ears...and a little less of that bombastic-ness. Respect. I love it.

is the footage going to be available to purchase? i watch this video every day since it's been posted. i don't know what it is. i'm on a Virgil kick right now. His musicality is spot on with this show. I need to have this entire show. sounds great and all the cool drum angles. love the way off from the kit in some other part of the room external hi hat. slick and sick shit going on with that. is this a vigril or holdsworth bill? the star of the show for me is virgil. he even plays like's it's all about him. and that's fine with me!!! drummers

The sound is a bit distorted but nothing too bad.

like what he says about remo clear ambassador drum heads. it's so true those are the best heads to put on toms to get the ultimate sound. the drumming at the end of the video is fun. love the guy who introduces vigril for his solo goes way over the top.

Taken from Virgil's 'Obsessive Rhythms' VHS released in 1989, this is the first version
of 'Origin and The End'. I actually prefer this version, since the slower tempo makes it easier
to hear the intricate bass drum ostinato. Plus it has a nice solo section with some creative stuff.

That song will always have a special place for me. Made me win some stuff back in 2004 :)
The slower version is cool but always sounds kinda odd to me. I guess I've seen/heard/played it too much at the faster tempo, it just feels like the 11/16 is more groovy.
He's killing it with AH. Best playing I've heard from him since Moonbabies.

A few new clips here. Virgil played on the recent Kiko Loureiro album. Here's the iTunes link:

And here is the single from that album. Kind of a Satch vibe in some parts of it:

He also recorded some new stuff with Vivien Lalu. Here's a pre-mix(!) preview of that:

I caught one of the OTV shows here in Sydney last week - man, there was some crazy stuff going on! Heavy, heavy playing by the whole band. I've seen Virg a couple of times now & this was definitely my favourite experience. Tommy Emmanuel & Andy Fisenden were also there loving it. All the OTV, Planet X stuff is so obscenely difficult & the other obscene thing about it is that it seems so easy for Virg. I saw there was some cameras floating around on & off stage so I assume he'll put some footage out relatively soon.
And I too am loving the fact he's using his ride more these days.
