I absolutely love them. I know many of you are not fond of DW, but these heads put these drums exactly where I want them. They feel great under the stick as well. Im sold. I have a Yamaha Maple custom snare from the 90's. I want to try the X14 on that next. Cant find one locally.

How do you have the toms tensioned? Very tight, medium tight, medium, or slack?

Id say medium. Bottom head just about same. Maybe a touch higher. The floor toms are a bit lower, but above wrinkle. Never have my 10 and 12 toms on this kit sounded better. I dig the response. Ive been using slack tuned 2 plys for a while. These have pop, and nice tone to them. I think I will be using them on this kit for quite a while.

I'll leave mine on for a bit and see if they grow on me then. Try the white suede heads sometime too. They're pretty nice. Warmer than clear, but brighter than coated.

Was thinking of going coated ambassador on my Yammy RC's. they are power toms tho. I tried it once but didn't care for the sound on that type of drum. That was a good decade ago. Clear ambassadors always sounded best. I use coated ambassadors on my other drums. Anyone like coated ambassadors on their RC's? Never tried the X's. might give them a whirl on a few drums.
