Pretty cool warmup, eh?

Postby Jeremy Smirnoff » Mon Nov 29, 2010 4:22 pm

Just watched this, and this cat is damn cool. I don't care if the jazz nazis will dismiss him, but he is a VERY talented drummer. Please watch the whole thing before you comment. :P

He's not warming up, he's playing in front of an audience.
Hard for me to get past 4:00. Is there something interesting happening after that?

Heil Jazz! ;)

Seems like Gene is all over the various magazines these past few months. His playing doesn't move me like Tony Williams, JoJo or Vinnie do, but I give the guy lots of credit for his energy and raw physical ability. It would take me a long, long, time to come close to doing what he does.

Im a fan!

Gene's cool. But I'd rather listen to him with a band...Preferably Dark Angel or Death...

Gene is one of my favorite players, his stuff on Death's 'Symbolic' and 'Individual Thought Patterns' is unreal playing, particularly for the time as well. Check out those albums for some really creative stuff, far more creative then his current bands IMO.

I just love how Gene refuses to bow to the politics of the industry.

Gotta love how he still uses his old Camco's and his feet are smoother and faster then most peoples hands.

A super nice guy all around, and congrats to Gene for landing the ModernDrummer cover. Bout dang time.
