Pick Hits was my intro to Dennis.

Unreal drumming on that record.

Saw him in clinic in 1990. My jaw is still sore from it hitting the floor so much.

If you don't have it, try and pick up a copy of Pick Hits. It's fantastic.

Another one that is a little harder to find is his first solo record put out by Pearl Drums called "Big City".

Big boy drums, there.

Here's a sample of the first track.

Check out the absolutely ferocious singles in the solo section towards the end. I don't think I've heard any faster. Ever.

Loud Jazz was my intro to Dennis. Studio and not quite as blazing as Pick Hits but it's a great record. Never got to hear Dennis with Sco, unfortunately. Pick Hits is montstrous.

I got tired of the Brides of Funkenstein not haing their entire set on youtube . . . so here it is. It's ALL Dennis. Great guitar from Dwayne Blackbird McKnight of Headhunters fame.

I always enjoyed this album. It has a couple of serious Dennis moments.

I did not have this album for long, someone borrowed it and it was gone. But I remember it was pretty out of control.

I listened to many of his solo albums. The Lagrene one is fantastic too! One of my favorite DC grooves is the one here from 0:58. So sharp and powerful.

A drummer/engineer friend of mine has played me a couple of tracks from an album called Uncle Moe's Space Ranch a few times and the playing on that one is ridiculous. Garsed, Helmerich, Willis, Kinsey & Chambers. I've checked out some itunes samples from the CAB albums and that stuff sounds pretty interesting too.

A drummer friend and I were talking about seeing John M with Dennis at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor on the trio tour...he had two 4th row tix.

He didn't make it, but I did and obviously it was an astounding concert. Dennis owned the crowd that night, JML could just stand there and grin.
