^^^^^

I saw that tour, with Joey DeFrancesco playing organ and trumpet. Great show. That's some vintage Dennis.

DC pretty much took over the whole show. Stole the hell out of it. People were going bonkers.

He didn´t play Pearl drums in that session. He used the studio drum set, like Gary Novak did in the same studio:

He didn't make it, but I did and obviously it was an astounding concert. Dennis owned the crowd that night, JML could just stand there and grin.

I saw that trio as an impressionable teen and it's one of the major reasons I started serupiously studying and practising the drums (I often say that I walked into that gig thinking of myself as a guitarist and walked out of it wanting to be a drummer) John McLaughlin was great but Dennis just had SUCH an impact on me. Terrific stuff!

Dennis checking the next new Zildjian As.
Not the best demo...
Hope Zildjian makes a GOOD video demo of those cymbals.

Sometimes I can´t believe the quality of the vids that huge brands like Z or DW use to promote new gear. Today is easier than ever to record something that looks and sounds "pro". This one in particular looks really amateur-ish and the cymbals sounds like crap. WTF?
