Macs and Firewire Audio interfaces

Postby alva1414 » Sun Dec 05, 2010 12:20 am

Im buying a new recording interface and im looking between the Focusrite saffire pro 40, the motu 8 pre and the presonus fp10.

My main concern is clocks getting out of sync. I hear the motu sounds great but the device never stays synced to your daw with windows. Im running a mac with 10.6.3 and was wondering if anyone iwth a mac and one of these devices has experienced that?

I use a MacBook Pro, running Cubase 5, for recording.
I am currently using the Steinberg MR 816 CSX, firewire, audio interface. Works great! Solid machine.

I tried the PreSonus FireStudio Project, unit. I didn't like it at all, it was a headache getting it working and was unreliable.

I think the interface you choose should be based on the music software you are running.

As far as clocks and syncing, I have no problem with the Steinberg unit.

Alva,

I use a Macbook Pro (and a Mac Pro) with Logic and a Firepod. I've never had an issue.
