Steve- have you considered doing more of this stuff? Perhaps in starting an HOD podcast?

Clearly the next evolution for HOD...real question is what's taken so long???

My top HOD'er list...
Peter E
Todd
Gavin

just to start with...

many more in the HOD family right here to hear from!

I say do the Drummers Getting Coffee thing...combines your love of video, music, production...
Would set the stage for drumming interviews in a very entertaining way. Just need to get a format
and template that is original.

All about the hang in the end right

Nice job on the interview. It was a good read. Where's the footage of him blowing madness on your kit.

Thought-provoking and unexpected.

Some of the non-drumming concepts he talks about remind me a little of a golf movie called Seven Days in Utopia, starring Robert Duvall.

A couple user experience suggestions:

I felt there should be a pic of Dave on the front page, where you announce the interview. I remember a while back there was talk of updating the HOD banner to include him; I think this would be even better.

I found it distracting trying to read the text while there were images and links on either side from the rest of the page; I ended up shrinking the browser window so there was text only.

Thanks for the feedback. I added a pic.

Also if anyone's interested Dave contacted me and clarified that "Tiny Dancer" was not the Elton song he was listening to (mentioned in part 1). He's not sure what t was, I'm thinking Crocodile Rock maybe.

That's attention to detail and conviction to what one says. Love it!

What I dug more than the actual content was how you guys verbally
jammed together. I always found it interesting how a talk show
host can draw out a level of conversation over "coffee" or sitting
in a char...sure, they are in front of an audience and ego is stimulated,
but the content is there within when the energy is unpacked.

Steve, your ears are fine tuned...the art of listening, laying in the pocket,
waiting for the verbal fills...keeping the flow of energy moving towards
its destination point.

Compare this to those who have no real content (specific reality TV shows
that starts with Housewives of...Jersey...what not...lives with no focus
produce no content but pure human emotion, lives with focus produce content
like squeezing a ripe orange...inside-out, can't impart what you don't first possess,
seek first to understand before being understood...

Result? Entertaining and informative "Charlie Rose" type experience.

Yeah...I dug it.

Finally set down and read it. Steve, this is so much better than MD interviews or any of the other mags. It drives me crazy when they let a guy go on and on about non-essential things and gloss over something that leaves the reader screaming for more or for clarification. It's maddening. This was a conversation between two people who have put a lot of time into thinking about the subject and then talk and listen.

I loved it. And I love DD that much more now, because he had the patience to sit and have a conversation by which most others would feel violated or interrogated. There's a guy who's spent a lifetime chasing inspiration. I love that. I f-ing LOVE that.
“Let's try some of my songs.” Dave Grohl, top sign drummer will be fired.

Speaking of Dave...two vintage clips (1993) were uploaded recently >>>
