Great interview too, and of course "you never can't go wrong by playing the music"

Seriously, this is the kind of drummer I want to be when I grow up.

Can you imagine? Unfortunately, he probably wouldn't win a store competition playing like this.

He would have the one I judged for!!

But again, it seems totally missed that you can't be a player and be in the GC DrumOff, it's for amateurs only... Cause trust me, I would love to just slay a bunch of 19 year old double bass bashers and walk away with a few hundred in cash and a couple grand in gear for a 3 minute solo.

I'm sure he would pull out all of his Gospel Chops licks for the competition ...

Just watched it again.. He is composing on the spot, but every idea just flows beautifully and the execution is pure perfection with no drumwanking in sight. It's a freakin' one man symphony orchestra. Genius!

Tony Williams - "I hear violins in [my]cymbals."

That quote always has stuck with me, and Tony's perception of the kit as a whole orchestra is an awesome thing.

Joey's brush movements (musically) in the beginning of that are just beautiful, emotional.
