Booking his own tours, recording/producing his own albums, I'd be willing to bet he has made out as good or better than dudes that are getting paid scale for the same skin time.

I went to NAMM 2 years ago with my friend who was playing with Bernard Purdie at the Hilton... There was a badge issue and I ended up chilling with Mr. P for like 3 hours while his manager worked it out. Other than the great time I had, I gathered that he really would rather not have to travel to L.A. to play a hotel bar starting at 11pm, but "you only get paid once, no matter how much it's played".

Anything good that happens to my favorite drummer on the earth is OK with me. He's my biggest influence. Next to Vinnie that is. I hope he gets a huge gig making lots of money. At the same time musically what he wants to do. Dave is beyond gifted. If Dave Weckl ran for prez I would register to vote.

I have the feeling that he is putting together a new band, new songs, new recording, and Jay oliver is back as his co-producer. It would be really cool if they go out on tour and play some of old songs from "heads up" and "hard-wired" recordings. Those two records are simply amazing!!! :D

Agree that would be excellent. Bring back Buzz too (or maybe DWB with Oz Noy on guitar.....).
