Kurits, were you at the Fillmore show or another stop on the tour?

I recorded the Chicago show. It was an amazing sounding show. Vic from the Chicago drum shop that bears his name walked past me and I grabbed him, he agreed it was an insanely good sounding show. We were all the way back. We didn't put earplugs in.

The lead guitarist was really amazing, as was the bassist. Super musicians, pedal boards were perfect, total pro level gear. adam Holzman player keys, wow.

And the flute made it all sound sometimes like a 70s San Francisco pron soundtrack.

Seeing this live, I did prefer PT. It was louder and I liked the songs much better, and vibe. The heavy bass and keys from Barbieri.

But worth the hassle, for sure. Place was packed.

I think Steven Wilson is doing some of the most interesting stuff around, no matter whether it's in Porcupine Tree or his solo project(s). I appreciate both. I've seen the SW band on both tours and they were tremendous, amazing both times. I think I prefer Grace for Drowning to the Raven overall, mostly because of the more open-ended feel. Did not get a '70s prwn feeling from the flute, I have to say. On the Grace material it comes through as a Soft Machine influence. At least to me. Maybe I need to re-visit Behind the Green Door...

There was a heavy KC thing.

The Streets of San Francisco theme, that also had some west coast jazz thing going on.

It took some balls to put a lineup like that together and tour. Steven should be commended
For his business skills.

Heavy KC thing: Yes! Grace is a lot of Crimson circa '71 with some Soft Machine in the mix. God, I love that.

Streets of San Francisco: As long as I never have to see Michael Doughlas' ass on a big screen ever again, I may not have to rip my eyes out. Behind the Green Door had a lot more of that '70s San Francisco vibe goin' on than Streets. I prefer the Streets theme to the Six Million Dollar Man and, for what it's worth, I prefer Behind the Green Door to any theme music composed at any time.

Oh, and I found this clip of Guthrie Govan. Holy F#ckin' Sh!t, the guy has chops and I like that he keeps the blues influence. OK, now, tell me how much he sucks. Go ahead. And the YT embedding is just really fucked up today. Not worth my time. One works one doesn't. Click and check it out or not.

Here's the album version. Better sound quality, but missing the live element. Again, click or don't. I'm tired of messing with the embedding.
