WTF.

Shocked to hear this. 57 is way, way too young.

I saw him play the most extraordinary piano solo, it had the audience going out of their mind, when he was with Tony.

It was so moving and perfect. I had to wait til after the show to tell him how much I appreciated his playing.

Tony would look over at Mulgrew during the show and smile, they were some rhythm section. Felt like they were connected by rubber bands.

He had a solo record with Tony on it that had some incredibly challenging tunes, Tony was powerful.

Saw this elsewhere. Bad and surprising news. I got to see Mulgrew a bunch of times with the Tony Williams quintet in the late '80s - early '90s. Spoke to him briefly at their last performance at the old Yoshi's. RIP, Mulgrew.
