It isn't a crash and it isn't a ride it's an Omni !!!
From sabian
Designed with the astonishing Jojo Mayer, OMNI is a brand new kind of cymbal.
Not a crash, not a ride, it is simply OMNI - and it's just the kind of innovation you've come to expect from the Artisans in the SABIAN VAULT

..so they re-branded crash/rides. Sounds pretty good. The sub $300 price tag for the 22" is cool too.
I gotta hand it to Sabian, they must be the best at coming up with nothing new and making it sound new. Though this isn't nearly as funny as when they came out with Vault cymbals. Anyone with half a point of perception recognized the A from A Customs, just oh so cleverly turned upside down.
JoJo's lookin a bit worn out these days, how old is he?

Re: New Product: Sabian Omni
cool innovation i guess but the cymbals sound pretty generic and boring to me.
Re: New Product: Sabian Omni
I never really checked out the vault series, did they just slap a different logo on a line they already had?
does this mean that they're discontinuing the JoJo Fierce stuff?

The Vault line now has all the signature models in it...
Sounds interesting... I wonder why they're only out in 18" and 22" sizes?

Maybe anything else wouldn't be OMNI... I'm surprised there's more than one size already...isn't OMNI supposed to be like all things to all people? heheheh
It's the Chuck Norris of cymbals... one size can be used for everything you need.

The OMNI is a cymbal out of the AAX line. At least Sabian (and retailers) have it listed as "AAX OMNI".
The Sabian Vaults it seems a response to A Customs, both in sound and marketing. However if you look at the V for the Vaults, it is almost exactly the ZIldjian A Custom 'A' turned upside down.
The cymbal seems to work well for what JoJo uses it for, though I agree it doesn't seem to have a unique character to it. And IMO most rides and be crashed, slapped, etc to get a pretty wide variety of sounds as it is.

Damn that was anticlimactic.
Re: New Product: Sabian Omni
Sabian's best stuff is the Artisan line but I think Istanbul's stuff is far superior. Just wish I could afford them. That Omni cymbal sounds nice under Jojo's hands though.
