I saw that video a few years ago. What kills me is the other guys in the band are letting him get away with it.

This is George Hooks. He played for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus back in the 80's & 90's. Modern Drummer did an article on him in Feb '96. He's a crazy dude.

If you look at YT videos of other bands in the same market, the drummer seems to be far more active than one might expect in a typical functions context.

That was cool...nice ride sound...toms sound like shite. A circus man...makes sense.
