Hi... Sorry if this is old news for you guys.. I had not visited Myspace for a long time.. So I was surprised to see its major face-lift.. Was browsing around to discover that full albums are available for streaming? I merely typed Chick Corea, Bill Bruford on the main front page and was given access to Chick's 1st CCEB album in full and the live Bruford as well.. + More... I am not talking about samples here but FULL songs and albums...

Does anyone know if the artist gets paid each time a song plays on Myspace?? If not, who owns these at that point??? Thanks in advance!!

Not much. Just low streaming revenue.

If you sign up to Spotify you'll have access to pretty much everything that isn't 'current' (less that one or two years old). I've noticed that the more popular stuff gets more adverts, so artists probably receive royalties in proportion to hits...although I doubt they get that much. Arguably something is better than nothing (huge amount of stuff on Spotify etc that is/was back-catalog and at one time unavailable...which earned the artist nothing).

Recorded music seems to be more of a calling card these days.

Artists get a penny a stream at many places. And sometimes .1 or less cents at places. It goes up and down. Spotify pays .25cents a play. Xbox has paid almost 5 cents a play.

Thanks guys.. appreciate it.. When I typed Chick Corea this evening, the Electric Band album is no longer available which is a good thing.. Looks like there's a rotation of albums every other day or so..
