This is probably the first time I hear Antonio Sanchez and love it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bppMPqTc ... QT5a-sv7dQ
Because this is House of Drumming, you can ask whatever and not look stupid, so I thought about asking what/where would be a good source of info (book/cd/dvd)
to develop this kind of jazz drumming where you move away from the triplet feel and it becomes more 16th based ?

I love this stuff too....
I'd say Chaffee for the building blocks, you want to get to the point where you're never thinking about stickings or groupings. The tough part is the big ears and amount of listening required to internalize the vocabulary ....

Here is an excellent place to start for that broken eighth/sixteenth note style:

Re: I wanna learn this...
I just recorded a part of a song that was 16th note based jazz style. There was a vamping bass line and I tried it swung, then realized it was straight. Very fun to improvise in 16ths. Zach Danziger did some cool stuff in 16ths. Even though he now emulates skipped LP grooves. LOL
Keith Mansfield rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Broken 16th note jazz is Tony Williams' wheel house.
IMO, the way to learn this stuff is by listening.
These guys all play this stuff from the heart and the ears, on the fly... Getting caught it the nuts and bolts of it is the wrong way to approach this stuff. Follow, the accent, dynamics and human interaction.

Break a beat into 16th notes and the possible permutations with four limbs = 256.
assemble that into music over a song and it's infinity.
