So, can we expect the PHX to be produced in China also? Makes sense if the factory is such a great one...

The 'China' bashing is the result of all the cheap crap coming from China for the past 3 decades. But, the days of just cheap crap are long gone. All the Apple devices are made in China and they are at the very top in quality. Yamaha has proven to be an awesome company. Building high end instruments and motorbikes at the same time. If there is one company that can make sure 'made in China' means high quality, it is Yamaha. Still, the very reason to move production from Japan to China has to do with money/profit only. Nice for China and the few rich folks roaming Yamaha corp., bad for Japan and not at all of any effect to the rest of the world IMHO.

My issues with China are related to their government (I have issues with many governments) and also with the general population's attitude toward dogs and cats.

The China thing is also kind of bunk, because you can pay similar prices for hand made stuff from North America or Europe. The financial advantages of Chinese production are not being transmuted to the consumer.

Spent a lot of time in China over the last year. It is not my favourite place in the world.
Just being there made me want to trade in all the white goods I have in my house assembled there.

No, PHX will remain where it's always been made, Yamaha Music Craft im Hamamatsu. Sakae never built PHX, so the factory move didn't affect that series.

When it comes to drums, I'm just concerned with how they sound.
I Love the sound of mine. :)
