Have my H.O.D. buddies read the best cover story Modern Drummer
Magazine ever had ??
Finally, one of the 2 GREATEST DRUMMERS, EVER, got his due.
JOEY JORDISON
Going back to the beginning of drumming, KEITH MOON inspired everyone
that came after him.
Both Keith and Joey are the FASTEST AND LOUDEST drummers alive today.
No one can play faster or louder. My friend’s drum teacher told him to check out a guy named Budie Rich. We saw a video of this guy and he was an older dude, he had fast chops but he wasn’t very loud. If you can’t play loud, what is the point ? If you practice every day for 4 months as hard as you can, you will be LOUD.
Keith and Joey can play anything and play it louder and faster !! No question.
I hope Modern Drummer will feature the other great drummers of all time.
Zack Danger with Homicide Drive….almost as fast as Keith.
Tom Cranbull with Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13…..Tom plays double triplet rolls as loud as an atom bomb !
Just to be fair and open minded, I forced myself to read an unknown drummer in the Modern Drummer Magazine…..some dude named Michael Carvin….No one has ever heard of him…..I did not care for his article…..he credits people that influenced him that no one knows…..I mean it was a little preachy, but he never once said what kind of sticks he uses, now how FAST he can play and how LOUD he can play. He's probably an amateur drummer, as he only had one bass drum and one rack tom...Maybe he is one of those weekend warrior dudes.
It’s like when you read that some of these jazz guys make a CD in one day, how good can it be…Seriously …..
Joey spent 3 weeks alone just getting the right sound for his drums. That is dedication. Then the band would take 3 to 5 days to get each song to sound the right way..…..It might take 6 months to get enough songs, but at the end of the day, there is a masterpiece to show for it.
But, for me, the real magic is hearing Joey live !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hearing him live you can hear the greatness, and see with your own eyes how LOUD and FAST he can play. It's like lightening and thunder. He is the greatest drummer because he can play triple fast speed rolls with his feet and be LOUDER than anything.
Thanks to Modern Drummer for letting the drumming community know what true greatness is. The article gave us invaluable insight into how he composes his songs when at home, and that he uses a guitar....he's probably one of the greatest guitar players ever.
