Remembering Jeff Porcaro

So today would have been Jeff's 60th birthday. I still can't believe that he died at such an incredibly young age. He was/is one of my favourite players and I have so many great recordings of him playing.

I often wonder what he would have sounded like today? What gear would he have been using, would he still have been endorsing Pearl and Paiste? Would he have slimmed his set up to one rack tom and one floor tom? What records would he have played on in the last 20 years?

I really miss him!

I think this is Pocketplayer's youtube post. Never heard Jeff talk in a personable way like this, although I do know that's what he's known for. I can also see how other big players at the time mimicked him, even how a personal level. I can definitely hear Vinnie imitating his clinic style....Vinnie is a sponge. lol

Juan baby...WHOA...that video is GOLD!!! Never saw anything like that before. Someone has more???
Need to see more!!!

Great story about Jeff and his spirit from someone who got lessons from him (note the, Jeff asked me if...);
My Father worked for Paul McCartney on Gve My Regards To Broad St. Jeff was the Drummer, along with John Paul Jones, Dave Edmunds &, of course, Steve Lukather. I would go onto the set during filming at Weekends & school holidays. As I was alone & intrigued by Jeff`s drum kit, continuously hanging about it, one day he asked me if I`d like to learn how to play. I jumped at the chance so every Saturday, when time would permit, he gave me an hours lessons on rudiments. The last day we saw each other he hugged me & that was the first time I ever really experienced missing another person. My Facebook page is full of my childhood lessons with him. I still play & am eternally grateful to Jeff for spotting my talent. I still miss him

Jeff is fine example, IMO, of someone who probably had a lot of anxieties but never made anyone else sacrifice for those...I can respect that a lot...
