I'm actually liking it better than with KC, who is a monster drummer, but this is a perfect fit.

I'm certainly not the one trolling here....................................

Exactly,Shannon's playing feels like home. It's that Jeff vibe. It's like TOTO has come around full circle. It's almost like a bit of Jeff was reincarnated in Mr.Forrest.

Is Carlock a permanent member???

If I remember correctly, Jeff Porcaro and his drum tech at the time (Ross Garfield?) designed/invented the drum rack, and then Pearl put it into production. Its purpose was to make setups easier and more consistent for touring. Not sure why that would be hard to understand. Aesthetically they're not the most beautiful thing to surround a drumset with, but they do serve a purpose.

Paul, I obviously understand the logistics and convenience of why a rack is designed and used, I was purely speaking from the "Aesthetically" perspective.
Peace

Aching for an internet verbal war??????? I'd love to indulge you but I've set many fires here in the past, this is clearly an unimportant matter,I do not want to disrespect Steve H.
Beside I'm too busy gigging these days to participate in pointless verbal warfare over the internet of all things.

Again on TOPIC:

Im really digging this Shannon Forest guy. I guess it's because of all of Toto's drummers /post JP; he reminds me of Jeff in a big way.

NO, I'm not looking for 'verbal warfare', I'd just like to see more people contribute to the forum regularly and have talked to Steve about how to get numbers and traffic up...IMO, what it really is, is practice-12-hours-a-day type style of drumming is really losing favor with most drummers. There could be a lot of reasons for that...

I was hoping they'd make his set from some of that WandooStaggerAbout African Rain Wood.

That's kinda exactly my point. With all the very rare and exotic woods Brady is known for, why would you cover it with red sparkle? Of course, that's all my opinion and I would never look down on anyone for ever disagreeing with me or being enraged by the things I write on the Internet....

Deep breath my HOD brothas!

I actually like the occasional verbal rants...keeps it real.
In the end, it is the long-timers who will keep things in order.
A forum should monitor itself until the mod had enough...and
Steve does a fabulous job imo...rarely does he step in and when he does,
he is sincere and well intentioned and "to the point." That's good
leadership any way you slice it!

Been in HOD 14 years...if the occasional rant keeps someone away,
it is meant to be. Speak your truth and never let the occasional
forum "bully" keep you from commenting...your thoughts reach far more
than a few.

Those who are "pros"...well word out...this is what your fans tend to degrade
to at times...we obsess over stupid details. One post triggers another below the
surface ala "gay" comment...OK...that's why we have big daddy called a mod. lol

I would wish a poster would PM that particular person who offends rather
than hi-jacking a thread (I am guilty of this many times btw).

I also do not mind someone from Brady Drums pimping a thread. It is a drum
forum...where else is he supposed to say, "Hey drum-heads, I am proud to announce that..."

Back to drums, Shannon, TOTO and why a red finish on Brady drums are
either a good choice or not. Because of this thread, I am hip to Shannon now.
He was not on my radar. I found it interesting reading a few comments on
Youtube during one of his clinics. He was boring, nothing fresh or new...well,
drumming at its core is time and feel. It is serving the song and artist and
Shannon is a pro's pro regarding this. He has "studio" sensibilities which seems
to guide him. If Luke and the boys give him a thumbs up, there is no more
honor than that.

For me, TOTO is STILL gigging after ALL these years and personal changes.
That respect trumps ALL else for me. Just watching those short vids from
Facebook and the joy this band gives when they play to a couple arm in arms
during "I'll be over you"...isn't that what it is about after the rehearsals, planning,
travel, drum check and sound, final tuning and everything else it takes to go on
the road night after night? Music is always bigger than the players when it is
done right! And TOTO be right! :)

Just my take today here in sunny WA State!

I have a show Saturday and have been practicing a bit and put a playlist of Porcaro tunes.

I noticed that he has the most supple and quick wrists I have ever heard. It is important to be able to groove on hat bass snare but he was so goddamn advanced. Silk Degrees is insane.

Bordeline demoralizing. No one will ever play like that, the environment was a propulsive force on these tunes he played on. Hard to watch anyone play those tunes. Simon is close. But he misses that "one more". Crazy.

Then I put Boulevard on with Marotta. Nearly lost my mind on those fills.

I love that record. I've loved it since it was released. "Dirty Lowdown" has overdubbed hi-hats playing 16ths (left speaker), FYI.

Ha! I would like to see that too!

And how many notes would it take?

You think you could keep it as low as twice as many notes as Jeff used?

... (just having a little bit of fun, not trying to insult or judge) ...

I like it when drum makers post here, and I love exotic woods with natural finishes, but that is a sexy looking kit!

I'm very finicky about reds, and I like that one a lot.

I was so intent on the shells that I didn't notice the rack, but I do miss drums looking like drums, instead of jungle gyms.

I'm not familiar with Shannon's playing, but if he plays like Jeff, that's what I would like.

I've seen footage of them with Simon, and he's great, but it feels like a different band. It makes me think it's not Jeff's band anymore.
