I remember that happening. I saw them live on that tour in Toronto. I think they were using tape recorders to play back a bunch of the strings. The whole concert only lasted about 50 minutes. The crowd was PISSED and booing. Funny how audiences don't even care about the fact that most of the shit they pay big bucks for is heavily tweaked with auto-tune and/or backing tracks. And it happens at all levels, and all genres now. Last time I saw the Pat Metheny Group, it was obscene how much stuff wasn't played (or sung) by humans in real time. Never mind someone like B. Spears or similar pablum.

It's still got legs in Detroit.

From a consistency view, and vocals sometimes being inconsistent, it is logical to add something to vocals. If you have to put on a huge show 200x a year, you can't place all your risk on the singer's voice. I wonder if there are insurance companies that require this.

I'm pretty sure Yes was tracking vocals when I saw them last tour.

That was great.

I thought I didn't like solos anymore, but that was tasty.

Never using the shoulder of the stick on the hi hat is definitely a Gregg thing.
